Non-Toxic And Natural Effective Ways To Kill Mold

Mold is a common problem in many households, but it can be especially troublesome for those with asthma or allergies. In this blog post, we will explore the best natural methods to kill mold without the use of harsh chemicals!

How Do You Get Rid Of Mold?

There are plenty of commercial products that work well for killing black mold, but many of them contain harsh chemicals that could harm your property.

These products are often found in the form of a spray, liquid, or powder.

They can cause eye irritation and respiratory problems for those with asthma/allergies as well! These chemicals may also be dangerous to children if they come into contact while playing around moldy areas on their own accord. But don’t worry! There are still plenty of alternative ways to get rid of that mold without having to resort to toxic chemicals.

Here are five ways to get rid of black mold with household cleaners! Keep in mind that these techniques in which I’m about to reveal are for handling small-scale mold issues. For more serious mold problems contact a professional local mold removal company.

Treating mold with Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is a natural antifungal, antiviral, and antibacterial solution that is effective in killing mold. To treat mold with Hydrogen Peroxide:

Mix it with water at a ratio of 50% Hydrogen Peroxide and 50% water.

Pour concentration into a spray bottle and test an inconspicuous area of surfaces first to prevent discoloration or damage.

Spray the solution on moldy areas and leave it for five minutes.

Rinse with water afterward, then dry out any remaining moisture in that area to prevent a recurrence of black or green mildew growths!

Kill mold using vinegar

Vinegar is a natural mold killer. It will not only get rid of the black or green mildew in your home, but it also eliminates odors! Fill one part of white vinegar with two parts water and mix to create an antibacterial solution. Pour the diluted white vinegar into a spray bottle. Spray the mold with the vinegar and let it soak for an hour before cleaning it off. Be sure to rinse the area with water afterward and dry out any remaining moisture in that area to prevent a recurrence of black or green mildew growths!

Getting Rid Of Mold With Baking Soda

Baking soda has numerous health benefits, including fighting mold. It’s safe for your family and pets, and it kills both black molds as well as the moisture that is often to blame for its growth.

Add a quarter of a tablespoon of baking soda to any spray bottle, shake the contents until it’s dissolved, and then spritz the affected area. Then scrub the surfaces with a brush until no more mold can be seen, and rinse the surfaces away. Lastly, respray the area and let it air dry. This will kill any leftover mold and prevent it from returning.

Protip:

For really tough black mold removal, mix two parts baking soda with 1 part water and 1 part white vinegar.

Mix the ingredients together until they become a thick paste.

Spread the mixture liberally onto the affected surface and let it dry overnight.

Scrub away black mold and stains, rinse with water, then wipe down with a damp cloth.

Essential Oils That Kill Mold

It might seem like a no-brainer, but using essential oils can do so much more than heal your body. Essential oils can also be used for small surface areas that have mold. One of the more popular essential oils to fight mold is tea tree oil.

However, there is some debate about its ability to treat mold effectively.

Nonetheless, there are several essential oils that have antifungal properties. These include Cinnamon, Clove, Thyme, and Oregano. Combining oils like these together in what is called a blended oil has been known to be more effective in treating moldy areas than using each on its own. Thieves Essential oil is a blend of cinnamon, clove, and eucalyptus oils found to be effective in fighting mold.

Another one is called Anti-Mold Blend, which contains tea tree oil and other essential plant-based ingredients with fungicidal properties like lavender or oregano. You can apply these by mixing them in a spray bottle, spraying them on the moldy area, and then using a cloth to wipe away any visible mold.

Treating Mold With Lemons

Most of us don’t think of lemons as one of the world’s greatest cleaning agents, but they are powerful when used without chemicals. If you’re dealing with black mold and thought that bleach was your best way to get rid of it, you’ll be surprised! Lemons can actually remove most types of mold and get rid of those nasty smells.

You can use lemons to clean moldy surfaces by rubbing the fruit on in a circular motion. The citric acid and powerful antibacterial properties will kill many of the microorganisms that are present, including black mold spores, which may still be attached or growing inside porous materials like drywall.

Conclusion

In the end, these are just some of the ways you can treat small areas around the home for mold. Now, if you have a serious situation with mold infestation in your home or office building and it’s not just an isolated area of the wall that has been affected by water leakages then I recommend contacting the experts at EnviroPure.

But for minor problems such as mildew on clothes left wet too long to black spots forming around window frames; using one of the ways mentioned above can help remove those issues safely without any toxic chemicals being released into our environment such as household cleaners containing bleach.
